WELCOME TO THE HENN-JOHNSON LIBRARY

AND LOCAL HISTORY ARCHIVES

Located just to the west of historic Lincoln, New Mexico, site of the Lincoln County War and stomping grounds of Billy the Kid (Henry McCarty, a.k.a. William Bonney and "Kid" Antrim), the Henn-Johnson Library and Archives is a research facility for researchers, historians and lovers of the history of the Lincoln area.

Nora Johnson Henn was known as the singular historian of Lincoln County for fifty years. The Library and Archives represent her personal lifetime collection of historical documents, records and research material, and cover the Lincoln County War, Billy the Kid, the history of Lincoln County and the village of Lincoln, as well as events and people connected to Lincoln County history. The Archives include the collections of Nora Henn and of Alice Blakestad. The archives also contains the Bosselman, Schrechengost, and Boylan collections.

The Library includes over 2,000 volumes of non-fiction books, some historical novels, periodicals and video materials.

The private foundation is located in the former Henn home, which has partly been dedicated to research and the archives. Except for the research area, the home is as Mrs. Henn left it. The building was originally an old adobe. More recent additions are used for the full-time caretaker.
